The Grand Palace and The Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Kaew are both the highlight of any visit to Bangkok. They are also well known as the “jewel in the crown” of Bangkok. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the adjoining Grand Palace together form perhaps the greatest spectacle for any visitor to Thailand. The Grand Palace was built in 1782, when King Rama I succeeded to the throne, and its construction work took 3 years to complete. The architectural plan of this Grand Palace is almost identical to that of the Royal Palace in the former capital of Ayutthaya, more than 600 years ago. The area of the Palace is about 60 acres. Despite the fact that the whole compound is full with tourists and you spend half the time trying to avoid getting in people’s photos; it is a very amazing place to visit.

Long and wide, the Chao Phraya River, or the “River of Kings” is a major river of Thailand, extending from the north to the central region and ending at the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand. The river is 370 km long and approximately 150m wide and 15m deep. This is also called “Khlong Rop Krung” which means “canal around the city”. This has become a popular destination for tourist, which is often known as the “Venice of the East”, because they can interact deeply with the local Thai community.
